The Victorian era in Britain had a powerful influence upon world prosperity and civilisation, partly through the Industrial Revolution but also through the number of great men and women that it produced. Among these was John Ruskin, poet, prophet, philosopher, teacher and supreme communicator. He chose Coniston as his home for the last 27 years of his life but when he died the Ruskin Museum became the village's memorial to him. Here you will find a splendid collection of exhibits - drawings, paintings, manuscripts and personal memorabilia - all displayed in a superb new building. Modern audio and visual aids are employed to make this a fascinating and educational attraction for all ages.
